1st International Friendly Hanoi - Korea (ROK)
The Tet (Vietnamese/Chinese New Year) holiday was a good occasion for 17 (!) 'Korean' Ultimate players to fly down from Seoul to Hanoi. A great opportunity for Hanoi to play against another team, and HUC rented the beautiful historic Hanoi Stadium for 4 hours of intense Ultimate. After a very cold start of the new lunar year the day of the international friendly was beautiful and sunny.
After introducing this superb stadium to the wonderful concept of disc we started playing some games with randomly chosen teams, containing both Vietnamese and Korean players. Just before 12 we started the first ever Ultimate International Friendly in Vietnam, a game till 13 points.
The Koreans started with defense and Hanoi made a quick score (1-0). After that the experienced Koreans took the game in their hands and scored point after point. At a score of 1-6 Hanoi was able to score again. After halftime (2-7) Hanoi and Korea scored at turns. At 5-11 Hanoi found its groove and got used to the full sized pitch scoring four points in a row: 9-11. With this score the clock ran out and we had to abandon the game, which was a bit of a anti-climax for everyone.
The songs at the line up were great and Linh learned that a disc can contain a lot of beer. Caroline's massive orgasm cheer ended this big event, yes!, with a climax!. After cleaning up and packing our stuff we all moved to the Hanoi Garden Restaurant to have a great meal with our guests.
Yes, we had fun and learned a lot! I would like to say thanks to all the participants and specially to the organisers and sponsors.
